Neil & Collette: DIY Love Story at Morrells Wood Farm

When Neil and Collette chose Morrells Wood Farm for their wedding day, they knew they needed a photographer who could capture their unique DIY vision. One of their main concerns when we first chatted was how dark it was in the barn making wedding photography at Morrells Wood , I assured them, we could overcome it and capture their day perfectly.

These creative souls wanted a celebration that screamed “us” and they absolutely nailed it. Neil and Collette’s infectious energy made it clear this wouldn’t be your typical Shropshire wedding. They bounced ideas off each other like a comedy duo, sharing inside jokes and bursting into laughter. Their vision? The best house party ever, filled with personal touches that told their story.

Their Perfect Canvas

After touring countless venues, they fell for Morrells Wood Farm, not because it was fancy, but because it gave them complete creative freedom. This rustic Shropshire venue became their blank canvas.
“We didn’t want someone else’s idea of what a wedding should look like,” Collette explained. “We wanted it to feel like home.”

DIY Magic in Every Detail

Neil crafted custom wooden signs, built their ceremony arch, and created centerpieces incorporating elements from their favorite hiking spots. Collette hand-lettered invitations, made vintage bunting from sentimental fabric scraps, and turned their seating chart into artwork.

Together, they transformed the barn with fairy lights, vintage books, and family photos, creating cosy conversation nooks throughout the space.

Capturing Authentic Moments at Morrells Wood

What makes wedding photography at Morrells Wood so special is how the venue’s relaxed atmosphere helps couples be genuinely themselves. Neil’s face seeing Collette walk down their handmade aisle was pure gold, no staged expressions, just authentic emotion.

Their first dance wasn’t to a traditional song, but the tune they’d been humming around the house for months. These genuine moments are what make documenting weddings at this venue so rewarding.

The Magic of Being Yourselves

As a Shropshire photographer, I’ve learned that couples who create their own environment have the most authentic celebrations. When you’re surrounded by things you’ve made, you can’t help but be completely present.
Morrells Wood Farm provided the perfect backdrop, but it was Neil and Collette’s creativity and love story that made every photograph special. Their day was filled with inside jokes, heartfelt moments, and genuine laughter – exactly what makes for beautiful wedding photos.
